We are looking for a Gender Ledger Accountant who is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing month-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires proficiency in SAP, as it supports the general ledger functions within the company, including journal entry processing, account reconciliation, and financial reporting. The GL Accountant will work closely with the Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and controlling teams, as well as external auditors, to ensure effective financial reporting.

The General Ledger Accountant ensures the accuracy of the company’s financial records and supports month-end close activities while maintaining compliance within the maritime TIC business. This role is vital in optimizing financial processes within the Shared Service Center and contributing to the overall financial integrity of the organization.

The General Ledger Accountant will report directly to the Senior Financial Accountant of the Mr. Marine group.

Description

General Ledger Accounting and Month-End Close

Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes in SAP, ensuring all general ledger entries are accurate and in line with company policies and accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
Prepare, review, and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as needed.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve any issues to ensure financial records reflect the company’s true financial position.

Account Reconciliation and Maintenance

Complete regular reconciliations of general ledger accounts in SAP, addressing and resolving variances promptly.
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger data by verifying entries, ensuring consistency in coding, and monitoring account activity.
Support intercompany reconciliation and consolidation processes within the Shared Service Center structure.

SAP Process Management

Use SAP to ensure efficient and accurate management of general ledger activities, including configuration, troubleshooting, and reporting.
Identify and implement SAP-based enhancements to streamline general ledger workflows, increase automation, and improve data accuracy.
Serve as a subject matter expert in SAP, assisting with training and resolving issues.

Financial Reporting Support

Assist in preparing financial statements and reports by providing accurate and timely general ledger data.
Generate monthly and ad-hoc financial reports from SAP for senior management.
Support internal and external audits by providing requested information, explanations, and documentation from SAP.

Compliance and Internal Controls

Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, maintaining strong internal controls within SAP.
Participate in audit activities by providing audit trails, documentation, and responses to auditor queries.
Identify areas of risk within the general ledger function and recommend improvements to internal controls.

Collaboration and Support

Collaborate closely with AP, AR, external service providers, and other Mr. Marine teams to ensure financial transactions and reporting are aligned.
Work with the Shared Service Center and regional teams to support reconciliations, data verification, and process improvements.
Assist in training and onboarding team members, particularly in the use of SAP and general ledger-related tasks.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor or Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field
Experience: 5 years of experience in general ledger accounting
Languages: Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus)

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and international financial reporting standards.
Expertise in SAP financial modules (GL, AP, AR).
Process improvement and automation experience.

Soft Skills:

Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Ability to work in a global, remote setting.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
