Senior Financial Accountant

General

We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant Senior Financial Accountant to lead our accounting team within the Shared Service Center (SSC). This role is responsible for overseeing financial processes, ensuring compliance with international accounting standards, and optimizing workflows across multiple locations. You will work closely with teams worldwide, manage financial operations within SAP, and contribute to process improvements.

As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and play a key role in financial decision-making.

Description

Financial Reporting & General Ledger Management.

Ensure accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
Maintain the general ledger (GL) in SAP, ensuring compliance with IFRS and GAAP standards.
Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.

Accounts Payable (AP) Management

Supervise the Accounts Payable team, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
Establish internal controls to prevent errors and fraud.
Collaborate with procurement to optimize supplier payments and cost efficiencies.

Accounts Receivable (AR) Management

Oversee the Accounts Receivable team, ensuring efficient customer collections.
Monitor aging reports and ensure prompt resolution of outstanding balances.
Work with sales teams to improve cash flow and payment terms.

Process Improvement & Standardization

Identify automation and efficiency improvements within SAP.
Standardize financial processes across the SSC.
Integrate financial operations of new acquisitions and international subsidiaries.

Compliance & Internal Controls

Ensure compliance with corporate policies, financial regulations, and local laws.
Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation.
Implement corrective actions based on audit findings.

Leadership & Team Development

Lead and mentor the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable teams.
Provide training and professional development opportunities.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance finance team.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Act as a financial liaison between SSC teams and business operations.
Provide key financial insights to stakeholders and senior management.
Support mergers and acquisitions (M&A) processes.

Requirements

Education: Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.

Experience: 8-10 years of experience in financial accounting.

Languages: Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and international financial reporting standards.
Expertise in SAP financial modules (GL, AP, AR).
Process improvement and automation experience.

Soft Skills:

Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Ability to work in a global, remote setting.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Other Requirements:

Experience with international group structures as a finance group leader.
Willing to travel a few times per year.
Residence: in or close to Thessaloniki
