The Totem VDR 2014 is a state-of-the-art Voyage Data Recorder that fully complies with the latest International Maritime Organization (IMO) requirements. The Totem VDR 2014 incorporates essential features mandated by the IMO, including a float-free capsule, 48-hour data storage in both the protective fixed capsule and float-free capsule, and a separate audio track for outdoor microphones. It also records data from various ship systems such as ECDIS, radars, AIS, and inclinometer, ensuring comprehensive data collection for analysis and investigation purposes. One of the notable advantages of the Totem VDR 2014 is its remote maintenance capability facilitated by the Totem Cellular Router (TCR). This innovative feature minimizes the need for onboard visits by technicians, resulting in reduced maintenance costs for vessel owners. Additionally, the VDR offers a conning display on its monitor, eliminating the need for a separate redundant display system.
The Totem VDR 2014 provides convenient means for extracting stored data through USB, DVD, and LAN interfaces, enabling easy access to recorded information. Its 19″ monitor ensures clear visibility of recorded items, facilitating monitoring, replay, and diagnosis. Furthermore, the VDR offers high-quality single-channel recording for every microphone and VHF, with 10 independent channels available as standard. Equipped with a built-in Siemens S7 PLC, the Totem VDR 2014 allows seamless integration with a wide range of binary or analog inputs, enabling the readout of non-NMEA systems. This enhances the system’s versatility and compatibility with diverse onboard equipment.
› Owner's copy of data on hard disk: Totem VDR/SVDR navigational records are kept for ONE YEAR on the VDR/SVDR computer hard disk. (Assisting with US customs security requirements, charterers' claims etc.)
› Data transfer ashore by remote queries through SATCOM
› Extra monitor with free IBS information: VDR/SVDR monitor displays status of recorded items at all times (Redundant Integrated Bridge System Information).
› Replay module for both ship and office
› Means of extracting Stored data from VDR/SVDR
› Ten (10) independent audio channels, NO MIXING of audio channels
› Built in Siemens PLC for easy interface of Non-NMEA systems
› The Unique Option for Float-Free or Fixed Capsule solutions
› The final recording medium, as stipulated by IMO regulations, must be installed in a protected and secure tamper-free capsule. Totem Plus is now offering the choice between either a fixed or a float-free type, providing the user with a decision as to which capsule type is right for them.
Under regulation 20 of SOLAS chapter V on Voyage data recorders (VDR), the following ships are required to carry VDRs:
› passenger ships constructed on or after 1 July 2002
› ro-ro passenger ships constructed before 1 July 2002 not later than the first survey on or after 1 July 2002
