María Alejandra Acevedo (Colombian) has a university degree in Business Administration, with a major in Supply Chain Management. Before joining Mr. Marine Elevator as a Project Manager in 2016, Maria Alejandra worked for six years at Copa Airlines, most recently as on-board supply service manager.

1. What do you like most about working at Mr. Marine?

I appreciate that there’s always something new to learn at Mr. Marine. The dynamic nature of the work keeps me engaged and motivated to continually grow my skills.

2. What is your greatest achievement at work?

One of my recent accomplishments was securing a contract with a global offshore company, a new customer for us. Additionally, I successfully managed a renegotiation for the renovation contract that involved our vertical lines, which was a significant milestone for our team.

3. What motivates you?

I find motivation in the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills. The prospect of continuous learning and personal development drives me to perform at my best.

4. What do you love most about what you do?

What I love most about my role is the ability to make a tangible impact and the exciting challenges that come with it. Whether it’s finding innovative solutions or tackling complex problems, I thrive on the thrill of overcoming obstacles and driving positive change. The sense of fulfilment that comes from taking on challenges head-on and achieving meaningful results is truly exhilarating.

5. What is the best work advice you have ever received?

In my native language, we have a saying: “Lo que te trajo aquí no te llevará al siguiente nivel.” Translated to English, it means “What brought you here won’t take you to the next level.” This advice reminds me to constantly challenge myself, seek growth opportunities, and embrace change to reach new heights in my career.

6. What was the most valuable lesson you learned while working at Mr. Marine?

Working at Mr. Marine has taught me the importance of adaptability, being hands-on, and fostering a collaborative environment. These qualities enable us to overcome challenges, work effectively as a team, and deliver exceptional results.

7. What are your future career plans (goals)?

My future career plans revolve around enhancing my procurement skills and taking on more significant responsibilities. I aspire to be back in a leadership role again.
