The Headway VDR (Voyage Data Recorder) is a reliable and advanced system used for recording and analyzing navigation data during a ship’s voyage. The VDR, also known as the “black box,” is essential for investigating both major and minor incidents that occur at sea. The Headway VDR, specifically the HMT-100A model, is approved by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) MSC333(90) and complies with the regulations of IEC61161-1-2013 and IEC 60945.
The main cabinet unit of the Headway VDR is built on a real-time embedded Linux operating system, making it highly reliable and adaptable to various types of vessels. It has a compact design, requires only 20W of power, and operates without ventilation fans, ensuring a dust-free environment. The main cabinet can record data for up to 720 hours (30 days) and includes VGA image recording in four lines, 61162 signals in 24 lines, voice from the bridge in six lines, and VHF audio in two lines. All spare parts are independently developed and produced by Headway, offering high-quality components at affordable prices, with a global service network. The VDR’s power module is internally installed in the main cabinet, compatible with both 220V/110V 50Hz/60Hz marine electrical systems. It can access marine emergency power directly and seamlessly switch to internal batteries if the main power fails. The VDR can continuously record voice data for up to two hours. The maintenance-free battery has a usage life of approximately three years.
