At its core, the Shipsurveyor instrument provides essential measurements of Lower Explosive Level (LEL) and Volume flammable gas for surveying and leak detection in the Shipping Industry. It can be configured to detect other gas ranges as well, which are detailed in Chapter 2 of the accompanying handbook.
The Shipsurveyor is designed for simplicity of operation and easy maintenance. It features a user-friendly interface with two-button operation, granting users access to all its features. The instrument offers two operating modes: Confined Space Monitor (CSM) mode and Combustible Gas Indicator (CGI) mode, catering to different monitoring requirements. Equipped with an LCD display and backlighting, the Shipsurveyor provides clear visibility of current gas readings, operational details, and status information. It also includes a battery life indicator, ensuring users are aware of the instrument’s power level.
In CSM mode, the Shipsurveyor offers audible and visual alarms. These alarms have pre-set levels and can be complemented with an optional periodic confidence signal. The audible and visual confidence signals provide reassurance that the instrument is actively sensing for gas, eliminating the need for constant display monitoring. The signals consist of an audible beep and a visual LED pulse every eight seconds. For data logging, both manual and automatic options are available in CSM mode, allowing for convenient record-keeping. In CGI mode, manual datalogging is supported.
