Alfa Shao (Chinese) graduated from Nanjing Agricultural University with a BA. From 2005 until 2009 he worked at an export-oriented manufacturer, managing their global business. Alfa later took charge of the international business for Desheng-Miko, a specialised elevator manufacturer (2009-2011). Alfa has solid import & export knowledge. Providing 24/7 service to the shipping industry and timely communication with Mr. Marine’s worldwide network, Alfa feels strongly that the human aspect is most important in daily work.

We asked Alfa a few questions about himself:

1. What do you like most about working at Mr. Marine?

One of the things I like most about working at Mr. Marine is the opportunity to work with colleagues from different countries and different time zones. I find it very interesting and valuable to learn about different cultures and perspectives and to work with people who bring diverse skills and experiences to the table.

2. What is your greatest achievement at work?

My greatest achievement at work is the knowledge and understanding I have gained about the industry I am working in and the ways in which I can contribute to the success of the company. Over the years, I learned about the different aspects of the industry and I stay updated on the latest trends and developments. My ability to understand the industry, the company and its customers better has helped me to make meaningful contributions to the company and in achieving the company’s goals.

3. What motivates you?

What motivates me at work is the support and encouragement I receive from both the management and my colleagues. The positive feedback, recognition and collaborative environment make me feel valued, appreciated and part of a team working towards a common goal, which is a great motivator for me.

4. What do you love most about what you do?

The most important thing for me is serving the client and solving the problem for them. I like knowing that the work I am doing is helping the client.

5. What is the best work advice you have ever received?

Nick has always been a valuable source of guidance and support for me and his advice has been instrumental in helping me navigate challenges and difficult moments.

6. What was the most valuable lesson you learned while working at Mr. Marine?

One of the most valuable lessons I learned while working at Mr. Marine is the importance of respect and understanding when it comes to working with others. As a company that operates in a global context and with people from different cultures and backgrounds, it was important to understand and respect the perspectives of my colleagues and customers.

7. What are your future career plans (goals)?

My future career plans and goals are focused on staying with my current company, Mr. Marine, and contributing to its growth and success. I believe that this company has a lot of potential for growth and development and I want to be a part of that journey.
