MR Marine Group is thrilled to celebrate the inaugural launch and stunning success of its global talent challenge, the “World’s Best Marine Elevator Technician” competition. This exciting international event, hosted by MR Elevator, a specialized division of the MR Marine Group, is set to become a highly anticipated annual fixture, dedicated to recognizing and rewarding the unsung heroes of the global maritime industry.
The world now has a new official titleholder for the “Best Marine Elevator Technician,” and we are delighted to introduce the deserving winner: Hari Selvaraj from Singapore. Hari is the first-ever champion of this highly competitive global challenge, earning not only industry-wide recognition but also a magnificent prize package. Hari will soon set off to enjoy his well-earned prize: a luxury holiday at a resort of his choice, courtesy and with the compliments of MR Elevator. This prize is a small token of gratitude for his outstanding dedication and technical mastery.
Hari Selvaraj : The Benchmark of Excellence
In addition to earning well-deserved bragging rights amongst his professional peers and adding an important, high-impact new highlight to his curriculum vitae, Hari can now proudly display the coveted framed certificate for all to see. This certificate officially recognizes his status as the well-deserving winner of MR Elevator’s 2019 World’s Best Marine Elevator Technician title.
Hari’s triumph was the result of a rigorous evaluation process that tested both technical acumen and professional conduct. He profoundly impressed the judging panel with his exceptionally high score in the challenging online exam and his “exceptional knowledge” of complex marine elevator systems, particularly his expertise concerning Hyundai Marine Elevators and other leading industry brands. His deep, verifiable understanding of elevator mechanics, electrical systems, and safety protocols clearly set him apart from a pool of highly qualified international competitors.
More Than Just Technical Skill: Attitude and Work Ethic
However, what finally clinched the decision to unanimously award Hari the prestigious global title went beyond mere test scores. It was his demonstrable commitment to the MR Marine Group’s core values: his “incredibly positive attitude, consistent availability, and diligent work ethic.”
According to Nick Bosch van Rosenthal, CEO of MR Marine Group, Hari’s professional conduct provided the critical differentiating factor. He remarked: “It was a truly tough decision, because we had received many excellent entries from talented technicians around the world. The quality of submissions made us realize again how much extraordinary talent there is across our industry. As a global leader in marine elevators, this competition is our way of formally rewarding the vital contributions of the technicians who do their absolute best every day to keep things moving smoothly. They are often the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to ensure people’s safety, comfort, and productivity on board vessels worldwide.”
Recognizing Global Talent: The Second Prize and Rookie of the Year
The competition also highlighted other exceptional talent within the marine service sector. The winner of the respectable second prize is Andre Schaap, hailing from Rijnsburg in the western Netherlands. Andre is a seasoned professional who has been dedicated to working on elevators for an impressive 24 years. His deep reservoir of experience and technical know-how served him exceptionally well in his challenging online exam. Furthermore, his admiring professional references provided compelling evidence of his long-standing excellence, which further resulted in him successfully taking home a second framed certificate as well as a smart new laptop as his prize.
Recognizing the need to nurture future generations of talent, a special category was created: the Rookie of the Year. The deserving title of 2019 Rookie of the Year was awarded to Edgar Cardoso from Portugal, a talented entrant who currently has three years of valuable experience in the industry. This category specifically awards one talented entrant who has less than five years of experience in the field, signaling a commitment to encouraging new blood in the marine elevator maintenance profession.
Looking Ahead: Encouraging Future Participation
Nick Bosch van Rosenthal personally congratulated the three winners Hari, Andre, and Edgar on their remarkable achievements and extended his sincere thanks to all the entrants who participated in the inaugural competition. He stated that he wants to actively encourage every marine elevator technician, regardless of their company or location anywhere in the world, to enter next year’s global challenge.
He also restated the core strategic reason why MR Elevator created and is committed to continuing the annual competition: “To maintain our position as the market leader worldwide in marine elevator services, we understand fundamentally that we must have the best people on board. That’s precisely why we’re on a quest a global mission to find, recognize, and reward the World’s Best Marine Elevator Technician every single year.” This competition not only celebrates individual achievement but elevates the professional standards of the entire industry
