The Furuno GP150 is a high-performance (D)GPS navigator specifically designed for SOLAS ships, in accordance with the GPS performance standard IMO Res MSC.112(73) and associated IEC standards effective from July 1, 2003. It serves as a reliable standalone EPFS (electronic position fixing system) that provides precise positioning information to various navigational aids including AIS, Radar, VDR, VideoPlotter, Autopilot, Echo Sounder, and Sonar. To ensure receiver dependability, the GP150 incorporates fault detection using five satellites through Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (RAIM). RAIM assesses the integrity status and classifies it as Safe, Caution, or Unsafe, based on the selected accuracy level of 10 m or 100 m. This feature also operates with DGPS signals, further enhancing reliability.
Comprising an antenna and a 6″ silver bright LCD display unit, the Furuno GP150 GPS offers excellent visibility day and night. It supports the integration of WAAS and DGPS augmentation systems, which contribute to improved position accuracy. For enhanced system availability, the GP150 can be configured with a second system, providing a backup and remote operation capability. The GP150 offers multiple display modes, including VideoPlotter, Text, Highway, and Steering. The Highway mode provides an intuitive visualization of the ship’s route, displaying waypoints and aiding navigation along planned routes. The Steering mode assists in determining the ship’s heading and the location of the next waypoint. With its adherence to SOLAS requirements, advanced features, and versatile display options, the Furuno GP150 is an excellent choice for ensuring accurate and reliable navigation for SOLAS ships.
