Mr. Marine Instruments & Controls, a reputable provider of maritime safety equipment, recently completed a significant and noteworthy project by successfully delivering a comprehensive range of modern gas detection systems and NOX/O2 analysing and visualisation systems for the construction of ten state-of-the-art “Platform Supply Vessels.”
The final customer for all the vessels is the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). ESNAAD, an ADNOC subsidiary, will operate the vessels.
The order received by Mr. Marine Instruments & Controls encompassed a substantial scope, including the meticulous design and customization of gas detection systems and NOX/O2 analysing and visualisation systems, tailored to meet the unique requirements of each individual vessel in the new fleet. These technologically advanced systems play an indispensable role in ensuring the utmost safety, protection, and well-being of the crew members, while also safeguarding the invaluable assets and delicate ecosystem under the purview of ADNOC.
New Gas Detection System for Fugro Bucentaur Drill Ship
Furthermore, Mr. Marine Instruments & Controls was entrusted with the responsibility of delivering, installing, and commissioning a specialised 16-channel H2S (Hydrogen Sulfide) and LEL (Lower Explosive Limit) gas detection system specifically designed for the Fugro Bucentaur. drill ship. This sophisticated system featured state-of-the-art sensors housed in SS316 enclosures, expertly combining the detection capabilities for both H2S and LEL gases. The sensors were meticulously connected directly to a prominent 19″ Rack panel strategically located on the bridge, ensuring efficient and reliable monitoring and control of the system.
By ingeniously employing a meticulously designed system of addressable signal lines, Mr. Marine Instruments & Controls seamlessly and effectively connected all 16 sensors to the centralised panel. A total of eight addressable signal lines were employed for this purpose, effectively enabling comprehensive monitoring and control. Moreover, the main panel, located on the bridge, not only facilitated centralised monitoring but also incorporated an additional remote panel in the drillers’ cabin, providing an extra layer of safety and continuous monitoring capabilities. This supplementary panel continuously monitored the system’s status, promptly alerting the crew to any potential alarms or irregularities, thereby enhancing overall safety measures.
