The Graviner Mk6 OMD is an advanced analogue addressable oil mist detection system designed for precise monitoring in marine environments. This system can efficiently monitor up to 64 detector heads, each dedicated to a single crankspace, and is suitable for up to 8 engines. Each detector head operates independently and can be assigned a unique address. When powered with 24V DC, it collects oil mist density data, converting it into a digital signal transmitted via the data cable to the control unit. The control unit, configurable to monitor from one to eight engines, is responsible for managing the detector addresses and associating them with the appropriate engines. It allows for the customization of deviation levels, average alarm levels, and alarm output requirements. The large LCD display provides real-time access to detector signals and indicates average oil mist levels for each engine. In alarm situations, it instantly displays the relevant engine’s oil mist signals.
The Mk6 OMD features impressive flexibility, enabling easy detection head replacement without affecting other detectors on the engine. The system remains operational during the replacement process. Additionally, the system’s pipe-free installation and compact detector design, equipped with plug/socket connections, make it a practical and cost-effective solution. Key features include multi-engine capability, rapid scan rate of 64 detectors in 1.2 seconds, and the ability to extend the system easily. The cable run between engines and the control unit is simple, contributing to straightforward setup. With 24V DC operation, the system eliminates the need for air supply or extractor fans, simplifying installation and maintenance.
