World Day for Safety and Health at Work

World Day for Safety and Health at Work

Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all key and frontline workers who have helped the world through the Covid pandemic thus far.

MR Marine Group is very serious about health and safety at work. The United Nations states: “The World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2021 focuses on leveraging the elements of an OSH system as set out in the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 2006.”

We understand that. As employers, we are responsible for ensuring that the working environment is safe and healthy for our employees. This applies to both our service technicians and our operating staff.

For our service technicians, we have strict safety rules, precautions, and measures in place. They all are required to adhere to. These internal regulations and guidelines help to reduce the number of accidents on board, during maintenance and service jobs.

Due to the lockdown situation, our operating staff have been spending more time indoors and sitting down in front of their computer screens for long periods of time. MR Marine Group management team grew concerned about the impact this was having on everybody’s mental and physical health. Therefore, Management decided to encourage the entire team to exercise and get some fresh air outside on a regular basis.

We have recently completed two movement campaigns. The first one in November 2020 was our first initiative of this sort: Walk for Charity. We encouraged each staff member to walk 5000 steps a day. As a result, we donated 1000 Euros to the WWF Oceans Project once the initiative was over. And more recently, we encouraged staff to cycle more in our Sunset to Sunrise cycling challenge

We understand the importance of both physical health and mental wellness. We understand how this affects not only our productivity but our lives at home, too.
